Want to take a deeper dive into how to comfortably move on the mat?

Mary's class series Asana Lab offers 2-hour forays into frequently practiced poses and primary functional movements. The next series runs third Saturdays from Jan. 20 - June 15, 2024. Moderated by Lili Robins, each lab features Mary working with Reuben, her what-is-this-yoga-stuff husband, to learn a wide variety of poses. Engaging and immensely practical, the Asana Lab series will help you find sthira and sukha in your own practice.

Each Asana Lab Package includes download-only Dropbox links:

  • Video recording of the live session

  • PDF of Mary’s stick-figure pose series

  • Complimentary Yoga Nidra practice

Please note: These are not passive sessions. Folks ask questions and discussion ensues, without losing track.

Asana Lab: Movement Lessons on the Mat will be dedicated to the posterior kinetic chain. What does that mean? Glutes, glutes and more glutes along with hamstrings, lats and other back body muscle training. We will kick things off on Jan 20 with “Glutes to the Max,” followed by “Lumbar Longevity” (Feb 17), “Only Camels Need Humps” (Mar 16), “Spring in Our Step” (Apr 20), “Quad Power” (May 18) and “Beat the Heat” (Jun 15).

Registration closes at 8 A.m. EDT the Morning of each lab.

Beat The Heat:

DATE: June 15, 2024

TIME: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. EDT

REGISTRATION: $40

Beat The Heat

We’ve worked hard during the first 6 months of the year. In many parts of the world, summer is setting in. Let’s chill out before the heat is turned up and we begin to fret that the year is half over. We will practice restorative yoga poses to relieve the heat generated by tension and pain in the back body as well as open the front body for what’s to come. Think supported inversions, back extensions and one pose suitable for just about anyone who feels hot, tired and achy.

Check out this brief clip featuring a simple exercise to support our hard-working knees.

You can buy videos and study at your own pace. Teachers earn 2 continuing education credits (non-contact hours). Each purchase is $40 for a link to the 2-hour video, an audio link to an iRest yoga nidra, and a pdf of all the exercises used in the workshop.

Mary’s virtual asana lab is a well orchestrated course focused on ‘teach people and not poses.’ It has revolutionized my yoga practice and teaching.
